The lobby of the new Northampton Senior Center is currently home to a variety of items being used to complete the facility. Pictured in the background are, at left, the doors out to Conz Street, in the center, the fitness room and, to the right of that, the computer room. The doors out to the multi-purpose room can be seen at the far right. The Senior Center is slated to open in July. Council on Aging Program Director Diana Damon shows off the newly installed floors in the dining room. A construction crew works on paving the Senior Center’s new parking lot, which will have 78 parking spaces. In this view of the parking lot paving, Salvo House can be seen in the background.
The two rows of photos below were taken on February 5. The windows are in and the drywall is up at the new Northampton Senior Center. Many of the rooms are now taking shape, and the building is expected to be completed on schedule and ready to open this June. If you "hover" your mouse over the photo, you will see a description. The space that will be the coffee shop is seen in this photo. The boards at right are covering what will be the Conz Street entrance to the building. Workmen currently have an array of equipment stored in what will be the Senior Center’s dining room. In the coming months, tables and chairs will replace that equipment. Fitness center
The games room will feature a pool table and lounge chairs. This space will be home to the Senior Center’s gift shop, where customers will be able to find a wide variety of NeedleWorkShop creations. A Capital Campaign is now underway to raise $500,000 to pay for the furnishing of the new Senior Center. See what is needed. You may see a room or an item on the building plan that you would like to sponsor or, if not, to simply donate to the grand total.
