The Northampton Council on Aging and Senior Center has many volunteer opportunities in a wide variety of exciting and rewarding positions. Whether you have a limited amount of time to offer, or want to become more engaged time-wise, there is the perfect schedule here for you. All volunteers receive orientation, training, and on-going support. Below are some of the ways you can help. - Coffee Shop
- Regular four hour per week shifts available for Senior Center Coffee Shop (substitute shifts also available). Open Mon- Fri. 9:00am-4:00pm.

- Gift Shop
- Weekly three and one half hour per week shifts available from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 12:30-4 p.m. (substitute shifts also available). Items are requested for the Gift Shop to benefit the Senior Center. Jewelry, handcrafted items and giftware are all great sellers. Call first or drop off items at the Senior Center in care of Patte during normal business hours.

- Receptionist
- Answer phone, greet and assist visitors, and perform basic office duties at front desk. Four-hour shifts are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 12:30-4:30 p.m.. Evening and weekend shifts also available as needed.

- Food Bank Brown Bag Program
- Held at Northampton Senior Center first Friday of each month. Duties include greeting participants, packing bags, and assisting with food distribution.

- Van Drivers
- Substitute van driver or minivan driver. No special driver’s license necessary. Vehicle Insurance covered under City of Northampton.

- Transportation to Medical Appointments
- Volunteers needed for transportation using own vehicle for medical appointments. We will work with your availability. Vehicle Insurance covered under City of Northampton.

- Medical Transportation Program
- Answer transportation phone line and assist with inquiries for appointments, coordinate volunteer drivers, and complete documentation. Two-hour shifts:10 a.m.-12 p.m.

- Camera Operator
- Substitute needed to take pictures for PVTA photo identification cards, which are offered on the first and third Tuesday mornings of each month.

- Special Events
- Occasional assistance needed for variety of annual events and fundraisers such as Election Day, Holiday Craft Fair, Winter Craft Festival, and the Harvest Dinner Dance.

- Elder Vision Newspaper
- NCOA’s bi-monthly newspaper can use writers, illustrators, cartoonists, puzzle-makers, and people willing to do data entry.

- NeedleWorkShop
- Club meets Mondays from 1-3 p.m. Assist in creating handmade baby items, doll clothes, and more for the Senior Center Gift Shop.

- Handyman Program
- Small home repairs/maintenance and more involved repairs by skilled carpenters, licensed plumbers or electricians needed.

- Instruct a Workshop
- Consider sharing your skill or talent with others by offering a class or workshop.

- New Ideas and Fundraising Projects
- Do you have an idea and the desire to sponsor a fundraising event for the Senior Center? Funding sources are always needed as well as people to propose them. You can also join our Promotions Committee and work with others with the same focus.
